Art & Information
Each year The Friends of Fort York sponsors the Fort York Guard, with artillery firing, musical demonstrations, drills, and battle tactics performances by the Squad, Drums and Royal Artillery detachments from May to end of August. Fort York’s Historic Foodways Programme hosts cooking classes and demonstrations in Toronto’s oldest kitchen. Tens of thousands of people come to both Fort-sponsored and partner-sponsored festivals, commemorative occasions and other events. For the current year’s listing, see our Events page.

As of September 2016 the Visitor Centre has opened “No Small Skirmish: How the War of 1812 Shaped Modern Canada”. The Visitor Centre, which provides an introductory experience to the entire 43-acre National Historic Site, will continue to host changing exhibits that originate in the City of Toronto Museum Services own collections as well as from other public and private collections.

Check the City of Toronto’s Fort York National Historic Site’s page for more information about the latest happenings at the Fort.
