We raise money from the private sector for the ongoing revitalization of Fort York National Historic Site, Toronto’s founding place. This work includes:
- The Fort York Visitor Centre now (as of fall 2016) presents a full programme of exhibits, including a new introductory film and an immersive experience of the Battle of York. Come see! We are now raising funds to complete the (non-gallery) public areas inside and outside the Visitor Centre. We need your support (Donate).
- Fort York’s 43 acres, including Garrison Common, are a vital part of downtown Toronto’s open green space. We need to make sure this historically-important open space, which is part of a War of 1812 battlefield, is well looked-after in perpetuity. And seamlessly connected to the vital improvements to the public realm taking place all around Fort York, including Project: Under Gardiner (The Bentway) and the Fort York Pedestrian-Cycling Bridge (both will open in 2017). See Making Connections published in 2015 by Park People.
- Restoration/maintenance of the interiors of all the historic War of 1812-era buildings and renewal of exhibits and interpretation throughout Fort York National Historic Site are consistent and vital priorities.
