A professional archaeologist with twenty-four years of experience in Ontario, Eva MacDonald works at Archaeological Services Inc. where she is manager of Historical Archaeology and Senior Archaeologist. In this role she develops corporate policy with respect to the evaluation, excavation, interpretation, and analysis of historical sites, as well as managing two field crews. Interested in researching and writing about material culture, immigrant communities in Ontario, and settlement patterns on rural nineteenth-century homesteads, she recently guest-edited a collection of articles for the journal Ontario Archaeology 83/84 (2007), which explores the notion of best practice in historical archaeology. In 2001 she joined the Volunteer Historic Cooking Group of the Colborne Lodge Museum, City of Toronto, and enjoys cooking on the wood stove as a costumed volunteer cook at Mackenzie House.
